- 1 Touchscreen / MCU
- 2 Heat pump ยท 12V
- 3 Window regulator / door
What changed
- HW3 standard; Shanghai production supplements Fremont.
- Resistive heating until the heat pump arrives ~Oct/Nov 2020.
- MCU2 (Intel Atom) standard โ a few very early cars may still be MCU1.
Known issues
- No heat pump on most of the year โ winter range hit.
- Very early builds may have MCU1 (eMMC failure risk).
- Door/latch can freeze shut in hard cold.
- Paint/panel quality variance.
Recalls
- Various 2020 campaigns (seat-belt chime, etc.) โ verify by VIN.
Repairs & fixes
- Confirm MCU1 vs MCU2 before buying Service menu โ Software โ Hardware; MCU1 risks eMMC 'screen death' and needs a paid MCU upgrade. MCU2 is fine. Service
- Door won't open in freezing weather Pre-heat/defrost from the app before unlocking; free the iced latch/seal; keep seals treated. DIY
- Weak winter heat / range (resistive) Inherent pre-heat-pump โ precondition while plugged in. DIY
- 12V battery failure Replace the 12V; app usually warns first. DIY
Verdict
Acceptable, but verify MCU2 and HW3. A 2021 with the heat pump is the better buy if budget allows.
